MOUNTAIN GOAT Oreamnos americanus
Perched on steep cliffs high in the snowy mountains of North America, this beautiful animal with thick, snow-white, poofy long coat of hair, has black horns 6-10 inches long.
The mountain goat is a mountain-top survivor! Freezing temperatures, lots of snow, and rocky cliffs to navigate, all mean this creature has picked quite an unfriendly place to live. But the mountain goat uses the terrain to its advantage. These massive, strong goats are great climbers with thick fur and layers of fat to keep them warm. The mountain goat lives in rocky mountainous areas above the timberline throughout parts of North America.
We run on different trails in the Santa Monica Mountains on Saturday mornings at 7:30. Our season will start on October 18 this year and end on the 2nd Saturday of June. We are a friendly and relaxed mixed group of runners, hikers, all ages and abilities and we run/walk for time, not distance.
